Sax and Scat

Image
Udah lama gua ngak nulis cerita fiksi.. Tapi, barusan, ditemani dengan sekotak coklat chip cookies, gua masuk ke alam imajinasi dan menuliskan ini: Sax and Scat  |  at latenightrambles.blogspot.com Ini excerpt buat yang pengen digoda (di-tease, maksudnya): "Kau urus saja hatimu, Rez. Aku akan mengurus hatiku sendiri." Itu kata-kata terakhirnya. Tanpa pesan sampai jumpa, tanpa tengokan kebelakang. Ia berjalan keluar dari restoran, rambutnya yang panjang berkibas ke kiri dan kekanan. Reza yakin, Dilla tidak menangis malam itu... (baca lanjutannya) Di check out ya, Guys! Blog ini kan rata-rata isinya kisah-kisah nyata. Ngak seseru kisah-kisah bohongan di blog gua yang satunya lagi, loh. Cocok dibaca buat malam-malam galau nan sendu. Sekalian, dengerin ini: Fin De L'Affaire by Hank Mobley. Lu bakal ke transport deh, ke masa-masa sebelum lu hidup.

Re: The Dark Side of Dubai

Image
So, I'm currently reading a very interesting, if not heart breaking, article from UK's Independent on Dubai and it's double-realities. I found the content both alarming, and reminiscent of tragedies from ages ago. The article were broken into parts according to the people connected to the issues mentioned. Below you'll find what I think about some of those parts: on part IV - it took years to break out of the caste system: slaves, workers, bourgeois, and the royalties. You might think that every modern societies need to overcome such situations immediately - I mean, isn't that  "slavery system" so late 18th, early 19th century industrial revolution? We're living in the 21st century, now. We gotta think of better ways to progress than that. Oh, come on. Pyramids were built by slaves, just the same way as european industrial revolution were the sweat of child labors and underpaid villagers. American fanciness were also built by underclass immigra...

BAHASA: Jangkar dan Kematian

Saya pernah berpikir kalau saya tinggal disebuah bubble kebahagiaan.

let's see where this is leading us your slow to peak excitement and my need for instant boost your bitter sweet tip on my tongue that mouthful of a kiss less you became the addiction so just before you give your all and before i give myself in, i'll walk away pretend to have never met you till you come, luring me back to our little chasing game then we'll start it all over again coffee

Bahasa Indonesia dan kata "cinta"

Saya baru mengajarkan arti kata "cinta" dan "suka" ke satu teman vietnam sesaat dalam perjalanan keliling Leavenworth. Dengar dari teman-teman indo, ternyata ada satu arti dari kata "cinta" yang saya ngak pernah sadari sebelumnya. see, here in the states we can say: "i love this cake!" but in indonesia, it'll be awkward: "aku cinta kueh ini!" but we use the word "suka" which is equivalent to "like" and use an auxiliary word to make it more extreme: "aku suka banget kueh ini!" lucu ya, ternyata orang indonesia cuma menggunakan kata "cinta" untuk mengungkapkan emosi mereka, dan bukan sebagai expressi. i like that. great job bahasa :)

Poem of Growing Up #4: In Wait

so what's in a man that women search for? what makes them worthy of her hand that she would put her heart into loving him, and her mind into respecting him now what's in time that women run back, towards vanity, the reminiscent of the youthful charm that they once own what's in time that men work, with pain to reach a goal which will only get higher as they reach the one before what's in time that we can't wait, or think that we might not get what we're looking for if we just wait i've had enough of imagining what could be and what couldn't be. i'll just wait.

perspectt*ve

what's so special about perspective? 1. it could lift your weight or adds it on your shoulder. 2. it could add time to your 24/7, or it could decrease it. 3. it could give you music to your break of dawn, or it could thunder your symphony. 4. it could tickle your butterfly on a rainy day, or it could kill the joke before it was set. what's your perspective? who or what are you're setting your eye on? how are you feeling when things gets rough? Do you see hope, as i just beginning to see it?
i will look up to you. while im down here, will you teach me how to keep my eyes on you alone

Poem of Growing Up #3: Old Sins

I Lay in wait for an answer i dare not to assume A girl timid but still careless nonetheless diving for red poisonous wine bathing a stranger in her stream of curiosity oblivious that his blood will stained her fingers fragile now whispering a prayer the grown girl asked for a wash to cleanse to redeems what her past had hastily written knowing it will never be erased [x] click for other "poems of growing up"

For giving me the best, for being so patient with this selfish, doubtful, almost two-minded girl of yours, for choosing me despite all that, and still loving me, for making the last 19 years of my life worth living for always being there when needed and even so when i thought i didn't need you for guiding me and loving me for keeping me on track and cheering me on for rebuking me and yet again, being so patient, forgiving me for holding me when i feel worthless for smiling when i said all these for saying that you love me more than i could ever, ever , imagine for creating me so fearfully and wonderfully... oh, Lord, for being who you've always been for being the same Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. thank you, thank you for bringing me into your family since the very beginning... for dying on the cross for me and for working in me like never before. i couldn't get enough of you, father. i need you more and more. you are, surely, better than drugs. i love you, jesus. Laskar Pelangi

I've read over, and over again how people are unsuccessfully trying to translate the title of this novel turned movie. Laskar Pelangi literally means Rainbow Warriors, or Rainbow Soliders. That gets me irritated because, trully, any phrase with the word "rainbow" connected with a masculine noun to it like "squad", "gang", "crew" or what have you, will sounds funny. And with all due respect to whoever is trying to translate "Laskar Pelangi" to English, i think it's better that you use another word other than "rainbow". It makes you think of a pink pony, galloping away in lolly land. It's not as poetic as it should be, it's not as inspiring as it is intended. So, here is my proposal. "Band of Color" which is a synonim to Rainbow. The "laskar" is implied in "band" as it depicts a group, or a collection of people with the same vision. At least, that is the closest i could get to transl...

Read: The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian

Image
(an awesome read. it's the **** - for 4 stars. click here for excerpt ) i found it hilarious. hilarious and awesome and sad at the same time. no, im not talking about all emotional things that girls look forward in a book. it's not just that. it got me thinking, it got me laughing, it got me contemplating and dreaming. Horn Book stated that "The line between dramatic monologue, verse novel and stand-up comedy gets unequivocally - and hilariously and triumphantly bent in this novel." It's about a Spokane Indian teenage boy who left his reservation school and moved to this all-white high school in the neighboring city. The boy went through all these problems of growing up, facing death, and opposing differences with a great sense of humor. the comic filled book was both entertaining and intriguing. personally i found a lot of similarities between me and the guy, Arnold Spirit Jr.. Not only because we're both living in the WA state, and we're both going to a ...

Poem: of things

there's just so many things to say that i feel like, i shouldn't write them. in fact, i can't. it's nothing emotional. just complete thoughts and ideas that sound brilliant once i got the time to write them down. i don't have that time right now. but im so afraid that i'll lose this burst of inspiration. gushing out of my chest like a sudden burst of water a torrent, a fast moving stream suffocating in its excitement mind and tongue like a sanctified marriage fusing into one quicken the breath of the bearer i screamed! scream for it's a language all would understand i want to let it out express what this is but what words come out? nothing no, nothing could describe this i want to hold it in yes, i want to hold it in in me in me chase after me it bids to race it to catch it shoot the bullet take it down! but leap spring forward take that chance of falling down bruising yourself seize it ensnare if you must i can't let it go by or it will find another bea...
