Just what is it that makes today's home so different, so appealing ?
i just reviewed a work by Richard Hamilton of 'what is it that makes today's home so different, so appealing ?' at school today. it pops. you know what i mean. According to Wikipedia.com, this 10 1/4 x 9 3/4 collage, is a mirror to what happens at home; a secure and private place. TOday's home was filled with popular - mass produced - gadgets. back in the 1956, it may be that black record player or the square thick television or maybe that red thong. But however the popular gadgets turns to some newly made- high tech items, these stuff would always take over our homes.
A concerete example is how my drama class would only run smoothly if the whole class are understanding and speaking the same TV shows, the new movies, the new artists, the characters in a movie that we can peg our drama characters on, the stupid things that Paris had done over the few weeks and more. It is soooo irritating for a girl like me - that could only survive studying without any TV (you know my story about, not having any TV at home, right?) - to not understand any TV shows that i used to watch anymore.
On the contrary, i do not think that having all those popular things back at home will be suffering. it will be fun, and people would always have a new board mind on things that is happening. people would be updated with information through the new plasma television (not the think ones anymore), would be chilled with the new grooves in their ipod which songs were downloaded freely from limewire (HAHA !) and more.
Conclusion, it is good to have the 'world of consumerism' stayed at your place for ever. but it would somehow affect a part of yourlife. maybe it's your socializing part. maybe it's all part of your life. i dont know. you decide.
joe is me.
