Music: Clazziquai

Image
If i should give one name that takes the high position of being my favorite Asian musician, it'll probably be Clazziquait. Their songs are jazzy but still catchy. This korean band's music don't blow you to sleep [like those sax based intrumental jazz] or keep you wondering about the drum beat's progression [like those trio jazz bands]. People call their genre asian-pop, some call it nu-jazz, other classify them as easy listening. I really don't care. Don't let genres keep you from broadening your music library. And for you guys who thinks asian songs are for sizzies, think again [i was once those kind of people. anti asian songs, anti asian drama. so i undestand. it takes time, practice and a little pressure]. Music: The M's

Image
Will be completely honest with you, 30 minutes ago i fortunately stumbled upon The M's through betterpropaganda . I would say their genre is indie Rock, but the genre -of which one usually over classify after pre-sorting whether a song is worth hearing or not - itself fades away after you listen to them. They put a very creative tweaks to their music, from trumpets line, harmonica, to accordion line. Similar artist includes; Beirut, Of Montreal, Spoon and New Pornographers. Hear them out - i support legit downloads [though always highly tempted]. Big Sound - The Ms

Music: Fightless Bird, American Mouth

Image
i was reading nandya 's blog and i played her music playlist. Fightless Bird by Iron & Wine fills my room it is one sweet, painful song. go, reminisce. For the longest time, i can't figure out the poetic lyrics until i googled and got this great interpretation of the song [click here] i didn't know nandya has a melancholic taste for music, guess another thing i learn from reading friends' blogs. it's quite late, i've -again- passed my bed time. goodnight.

Sprinkler Accident

Somebody aimed the sprinkler at my open windows right beside my bed (on which i store all my art stuff). The water hits perfectly at my 2 layered windows, and therefore sending all the water into my room, wetting all the art paper. i was forced to do some quick thinking - took a plastic bag that was once a storage for sencond hand paintbrushes, make that as an emergency "water basin". close the 2nd layer window, making sure the water basin is working its magic, i went out and re-set the sprinkler. it was 2.12 at night, and thanks to the sprinkler, i jammed my middle finger at the window. first thing i said was "what the heck?", that means; no curses! yay! time to clean up after the mess and put some healing kiss to my magic finger. yea, the finger that said the magic word very, very rarely. items trashed: 1 stash of paper 6 sheets of kitchen napkins (used economically) almost a portfolio (hoping those babies are drying up safely)

Music: Miike Snow

What was i supposed to do when my friend was talking to a certain someone about something i shouldn't hear? I turned on my ipod and listened to a podcast which played Miike Snow 's new song called Animal. By new i mean, the album was released on June and the song itself have been playing for quite a while. This remix is by Fake Blood , a london based DJ. Catch them at Ibiza this coming August. :P
just wet home from IGames at IFGF Seattle. It was a fun day, both playing the games and hollering at our teams to shoot, defend and attack the opposing team. im all tired and sticky from the sweat, so im gonna go now... probably listen to more bossa songs, waiting for my friend to finish showering and hoping i could get some rest. ps: gak bisa berhenti kentut -___- pps: pictures later

Music: Crowd Lu

So, blur told me about this guy through her blog. Gotta rummage through imeem to find him, in order not to get the rapidshare files of his music. His high, solid voice, is amazing to hear. If only i understand those words he said in his melodious music, i would fall head over heels. FYI, i used to hate asian music. That's when all i know about them is that they are poppy and melancholic. Wrong! There are fun, jazzy, soulful asian music out there just waiting for you to find out. But to find it, oh dear, good luck! For more on Asian Music, click on Blur's Blog and be enlightened!

Burton's Alice in Wonderland

Despite the "so-so" trailer, on personal liking, i know Burton's movies never disappoint. It's always that way. Sweeney Todd's trailer - passable, Big Fish's trailer - only the quirky will find it amusing, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory's trailer - where's the delicious magic? But when you get to watch the movie, "BAM!" you're chained to your seat. I am, therefore, waiting... "Alice, you're terribly late, you know. Naughty!" - Mad Hatter. That line, despite seen only in trailers, proves how great Johnny Depp's acting ability is. By golly, i simply can't wait!

Bite of Seattle 2009

Image
above: the music scenes below: the kids (and a free-hug grandpa) below: rickshaw! do you ever think it would be there...? below: seattle's annual food fest shots of... the food! these are just a couple of the numerous amount of food they got there. the few of what my friends and i ate: - sweetness divine: funnel cake, chocolate dipped strawberry, elephant ears, strawberry cheesecake. - savory savvy: crocodile on skewers, beef bbq, giant curly fries. below: the people... posed to be shot (and me on hulla hoop while taking pics!) below: the wrong-est looking balloon (just saying!)

ngak mantep

hari ini seattle agak adem. di sebelah kanan saya, langit warnanya putih, disebelah kiri saya warna langit adalah biru. pertanyaannya, mengapa kak seto ngak pernah bikin lagu tentang warna langit yang beda2? atau mungkin, ini hanya saya yang menganggap bahwa kejadian ini agak menarik. ya, semenarik mencari tahu tentang "apa yang sebenarnya terjadi saat manusia sedang ber-ekskresi-ria". sedihnya, karena saya agak kurang suka dibelai angin, saya mencoba menutup jendela rumah teman saya (ceritanya lagi numpang tidur), debu2 dari blinds jendela langsung masuk ke hidung saya. alhasil, alergi debu saya mantap kembali mengganggu hari. bersin ngak berhenti, buang ingus udah ngabisin dua kitchen napkins, mata gatel sebelah. *menghela nafas* harap maklum. saya tulis pakai bahasa ibu. karena si penulis sedang kangen keluarga... (yah, agak sedikit kangen)

Music: David Choi

Image
Being Here - David Choi breathing along with this song, sang by David Choi, written by the same youtube super non-smilling musician; david choi himself. sadly, it's not on his album. Same case with my other favorite song of his; We'll Make It Last (All Afternoon). You can check the songs out on imeem. enjoy :)

I wish taking pictures with film isn't this expensive. Here's the story: Johanna tried a new photo developer called Camera West. An old timer in Seattle area. But, it was a huge mistake. Not because they aren't professional - which they are. It all comes down to this; it takes them 3 weeks to develop my film and 30 bucks worth of money to get them on a CD. Yes, i was quite in shock when receiving my film. It would be OK if my film was all great shots and i get to get at least 13 out of 16 films. But, since my last trip to Pike Place resulted to the Open Back-ed Holga, at least half of my reel was burned. So, goodbye to all the 10 great shots i took at parks with my school friends and shots i took at Pike Place... and hello to 30 bucks' worth of 11 shots. am i happy? with some of the shots; yes. with most - not really.
